PSLE AL Score Calculator

Put in your child's marks for the four PSLE subjects and this works out the Achievement Level for each one and adds them up into the total PSLE Score. It is free, there is nothing to sign up for, and nothing you type leaves your device.

AL bands checked against the Ministry of Education, Singapore, 20 August 2026. Read the official MOE PSLE scoring page.

Type the raw mark out of 100 for each subject. The AL updates as you type.

What is an AL?

AL stands for Achievement Level. Since 2021, PSLE subjects are not reported as a T-score any more. Instead each subject is placed into one of eight bands, from AL 1 down to AL 8, based on the raw mark your child scored in that paper. AL 1 is the best band.

The point of the change is that your child is graded against a fixed standard rather than against everyone else in the cohort. Two children who both score 87 in Maths both get AL 2, no matter how the rest of the country did that year.

The bands are not the same width. The top bands are narrow, five marks each, and the lower bands are much wider. That is deliberate, so a couple of careless marks near the top does not swing things wildly.

How the total PSLE Score works

The PSLE Score is simply the four subject ALs added together: English, Mathematics, Science and Mother Tongue. There is no weighting and no conversion table. If your child gets AL 2, AL 1, AL 3 and AL 2, the PSLE Score is 8.

Because the best AL in a subject is 1 and the highest is 8, the total runs from 4 to 32. A lower number is better, which catches a lot of parents out at first. 4 is the strongest possible result.

What about Foundation level subjects?

Foundation level subjects are graded AL A, AL B and AL C rather than 1 to 8. For working out the overall PSLE Score and for Secondary 1 posting, those grades count as the Standard level equivalents below. Tick “Foundation level” next to a subject in the calculator and it handles the conversion for you.

What this calculator does not do

It cannot predict a real PSLE result. Marks in a school paper and marks in the national paper are not the same thing. Treat the number as a way to understand the scoring, not a forecast. Cut-off points also move every year depending on who applies, so treat any figures you see as a guide, not a guarantee, and check the official MOE and school sources at the time you are choosing.

Want to work on the weaker subject?

If one AL stands out on the list above, a bit of targeted practice is usually more useful than more of everything. Our Primary 6 practice is free to start and every question comes with an explanation of why the answer is what it is.
